So, it's been a long time since I've posted anything. I've just been so busy, it's been hard to keep up with this. But I'm going to try to make a concerted effort to keep up with it. In the time since I've last posted, I've learned a heck of a lot, and really grown as a cinematographer and filmmaker. Here's a rundown of some highlights of what's been going on:
The film Jacob's Paradox has been accepted and shown at about 9 different festivals, and has even won awards at one or two, including the REMI award for science fiction at the Houston worldwide festival. Pretty awesome!
I shot an anthology horror series called "Tales from the Blood Fairies", and a sizzle reel/short film for a bigger project called "Asylum District", all over a period of 8 days. We had no budget, but we had a drive and passion to make it happen, and the results are amazing! Can't wait to see it released this summer!
I've done a few book trailers that have turned out great, and one was even featured on Entertainment Weekly's website in the books category. Both times, the authors of the books have loved what we accomplished.
I shot reenactments for a documentary that will be coming out soon, and it's a really powerful topic.
I traveled to Denver and St. Louis for work, getting to shoot some of the beautiful landmarks in both cities. Denver was a blast (although it's true what they say- with the thinner air, one beer feels like three!) and St. Louis my hotel room had an amazing balcony. I definitely sat out there with my friend and sound guy and had a couple beers while watching the streets crawl with activity at night. And then coffee in the morning out there. Not a bad way to travel for work!
[wpvideo XzXslynh] This past November I shot a short horror film called Reaching Out in an otherwise abandoned hospital, and had an amazing crew and it was one hell of a large production. It was a really great time and I got some amazing footage from it!
This Sunday I shoot a proof of concept for a feature length comedy script that harkened back to the 80s and 90s and cannot wait to share it with you.
And then of course, the big news. I was hired to be cinematographer on a decent sized feature that starts paid preproduction next week! I am beyond excited, and already have a great crew to work with. I can't wait. It's going to be so much fun!
